Position Summary:
The Software Developer is responsible for the new development and ongoing maintenance of Haggen’s IT environment. Their primary responsibilities will include the analysis, design, development and delivery of technology solutions that provide system improvements and efficiencies that exceed business objectives. They will provide ongoing support and maintenance for processes linked to reporting, web, application and integration systems. Additionally, the Software Developer will work independently on projects, as well as with a variety of business partners in all phases of the project life cycle.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
1. Planning/Project Management: Works closely with co-workers to determine operational feasibility for new projects by evaluating problem definition, requirements, solution development, proposed solutions and analysis. They improve operations by conducting system analysis and recommend changes to policy, procedures and best practices. They take an active role in their continued education by updating their job knowledge and skills through study of state-of-the-art tools and techniques. Additionally, they will use standard project management processes and tools in order to manage project schedules, resources and deliverables.
2. Development/Delivery: Designs and develops software solutions utilizing the standard software development lifecycle. Tasks include analyzing system requirements, designing and documenting solutions by studying information needs and system flow and conferring with users. They will investigate problems as they monitor data usage and work processes and clearly document solutions using source control management, comments and clear code. Additionally, they will develop solutions with standardized technologies using best practice coding standards.
3. Support: Actively provides support and maintenance for systems as well as end users and responds to issues within all established timeframes. They will provide end user training and maintain user documentation. Software Developers work in and cultivate a team oriented work environment by sharing work knowledge and offering assistance to co-workers as needed. They adhere to all company policies and procedures creating a professional and enjoyable work environment that protects the integrity of the IT operation by keeping information confidential.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Minimum of 2 years of software development experience PLUS a 4-year degree in computer science or equivalent related experience preferred.
2. Must have skills relating to: analyzing information, general programming skills, software design, debugging, documentation and testing, problem solving, software development fundamentals, processes and requirements, source control, change management and project management.
3. Preferred experience with: HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL Server, Teradata, Microsoft .NET Framework, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, PHP, SQL, Git, SSIS, SSRS, Web services, API interfacing and web related protocols such as HTTP.
4. Ability to track milestones and be accountable for deliverables and project deadlines while simultaneously providing analytical feedback as needed on data interfaces, existing software systems and third party software implementations.
5. Ability to interpret, discuss and/or provide technical guidance and information to others which will often involve unfamiliar terminology or concepts in order to provide advice and recommended actions involving complex issues.
6. Experience with analysis of business and technical requirements.
7. Must be able to manage multiple projects, priorities and possess outstanding troubleshooting skills.
8. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and open to sharing knowledge and information.
9. Must be able to manage heavy workload with multiple assignments in order to meet tight deadlines.
10. Must be able to learn/adapt quickly to change and promote partnerships with other categories and Support Center departments.
11. Must have working proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and have the ability to learn related software.
12. Accomplishes essential job responsibilities in accordance with established standard operating procedures and company policy creating a professional and enjoyable work environment.
13. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with co-workers and other team members in English, demonstrate professional phone etiquette, courteously answer telephone calls and promptly respond to voicemail/e-mail messages.
14. Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment use and work environment.
Work Environment:
• Majority of work will be performed within office environment in assigned work space.
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk using computer; use hands and arms for tasks that require reaching and handling; be able to effectively speak and understand English.
• Equipment used in the course of a normal workday may include: computer, keyboard, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copier, scanner and other office equipment.
• Must be available to work flexible or unusual hours as needed, including weekends.
